Richard Lopaschuk

HOUND GROUP
Mr. Richard Lopaschuk
Cranbrook, BC Canada

Mr. Richard Lopaschuk began in purebred dogs in 1966 with German Shepherd Dogs in the obedience ring and graduated to conformation a year later. Over the next 53 years he has successfully bred many champion German Shepherd Dogs, Miniature Schnauzers, Cairn Terriers, Papillons, Wire Fox Terriers and Pointers. He and his wife still breed and exhibit Papillons.

Richard started judging in 1989 with the Terrier Group and is now an All-Breed judge in Canada. He has also judged internationally in Australia, BIS Melbourne Royal, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Columbia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa, Sweden, Thailand and the United States.

Mr. Lopaschuk is a Life Member of the Canadian Kennel Club and was on the Board of Directors of the CKC for 14 years.

Cathy Daugherty

WORKING GROUP
Mrs. Cathy H. Daugherty

Cathy Daugherty began breeding and showing in 1978. She started with Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs and eventually acquired Belgian Sheepdogs. Her world-renowned Bel-Reve breeding program produced many national and international champions including several World Champions.

Mrs. Daugherty began judging in 1995, and presently, judges AKC Herding, Working and Hound groups as well as 21 Sporting breeds. She has judged all over the US as well as Canada, Argentina, Belgium, China, Spain and most recently Japan and Italy.

As a breeder and a judge, she is a firm believer in the preservation of purebred dogs and the various tasks for which they were created.

Cathy holds a Masters of Science in Immunology and Microbiology and has worked for 25 years for the State of Connecticut as an Infection Control Practitioner.

Kenneth Kauffman

TERRIER GROUP
Mr. Kenneth Kauffman

Mr. Kenneth Kauffman started with one Cairn Terrier in obedience in 1977. His successful breeding program, under the Brehannon prefix, has produced over 30 champions. Ken is still actively breeding and showing Cairn Terriers.

He began judging over 25 years ago and is approved for the Terrier Group, Junior Showmanship, Best In Show and 18 Toy breeds.

After 40 years, Ken retired as an art professor at Girard College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and currently lives in a historically designated, 150-year-old farm house with his partner of 28 years.

Michael Leonard

TOY GROUP
Mr. Michael Leonard
Dublin, Ireland

Michael Leonard has been involved with purebred dogs for over four decades. He grew up with his father’s gundogs, and eventually got involved in successfully showing Old English Sheepdogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Japanese Spitz and Tibetan Spaniels.

He is licensed by the Irish Kennel Club and FCI as an all-breed judge and has officiated in the U.S. and more than 20 other countries and most continents, at many of the world’s top shows, including Show Dog of the Year and Champion of Champions shows in many European Countries, at the World Dog Show, the European Dog Show, and a number of National Specialties in the U.S. He judged previously at the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills in 2015.

Janet Allen

NON-SPORTING GROUP
Ms. Janet M. Allen

Since 1975, Ms. Janet Allen has been involved in the sport as a breeder, owner, handler and since 1990, judge. She was successful in Chow Chows under the Tai Yang prefix, with multiple champions, including BIS and BISS winners. Janet became involved with other Oriental breeds- Pekingese, Shih Tzu and Japanese Chins. As partner in Sing Lee Pekingese, she made up over fifty champions with numerous BIS, BISS (including two National BISS) winners. In addition, Janet handled (and owned) Pugs, Papillons, Yorkshire Terriers, Pomeranians, Chihuahuas, Tibetan Spaniels and a BIS Norwegian Elkhound. Licensed for Toy and Non Sporting groups, Junior Showmanship and Best in Show, she has enjoyed judging in the United States and Canada, awarding CCs in England, Australia and New Zealand, and judging all breeds in South Korea, China and Taiwan. Janet has judged regional and national specialties in Chow Chows, Lhasa Apsos, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar Pei, French Bulldogs, Chihuahuas, Shih Tzu, Pekingese, Pomeranians, Chinese Cresteds, Miniature Pinschers, Japanese Chins, Yorkshire Terriers, and Silky Terriers. She was honored to judge at Westminster in 2014. Retired after a career as an academic medical center administrator, she is active in local all-breed, specialty clubs and judges education. Janet is always happy to make new friends- with dogs as well as people.

Stephanie Hedgepath

HERDING GROUP
Mrs. Stephanie S. Hedgepath

Mrs. Stephanie S. Hedgepath has been showing dogs since 1969. As a breeder/owner/handler, she has exhibited German Shepherd Dogs, Brittanys, Pointers, Golden Retrievers and Irish Setters.

Stephanie judges the Herding, Sporting, Toy and Non-Sporting Groups all over the United States, Canada, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Jamaica, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, China, the Philippines, Mexico and the United Kingdom. In 2011, she had the honor of judging the Welsh Corgi League National show (Pembrokes) in the UK and in previous years both the Cardigan and Pembroke Nationals in the US.

To this day, Mrs. Hedgepath still breeds and shows her dogs.

Dorothy Collier

BEST IN SHOW
Mrs. Dorothy N. Collier

Dorothy Collier has been breeding and showing dogs since 1968. She exhibited Old English Sheepdogs, Doberman Pinschers and Komondors. Her successful Summithill breeding program produced many champion Komondors, including several Best in Show winners.

Mrs. Collier started judging in the early 1980’s and is now licensed to judge all Working and Herding breeds. She has judged many of the major dog shows around the world, including Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club in 1997 and BIS at the AKC National Championship in 2019.

She is a founding member of Take the Lead, a charitable organization founded in 1993 to provide financial support to participants in the sport who are suffering from life-threatening medical conditions. She is a member and Governor of The Westminster Kennel Club and is a longtime member of the Komondor Club of America and several other all breed clubs.

William Daugherty

BEST IN SHOW OWNER HANDLER

Mr. William Daugherty became interested in purebred dogs and dog shows through his marriage in 1978. He started in obedience with 2 Collies and a Shetland Sheepdog. After joining the local kennel club, he became fascinated by the Belgian Breeds. Having a successful breeding program captured his kennel many major awards with over 75 champions including National Specialties, Westminster, the Canadian National and 2 World Show Champion wins.

While still an active breeder and exhibitor, William started judging in 1995. Fascinated by how the history of a region shaped each breed’s conformation, he now judges the Herding Group, Working Group and 33 breeds in the Hound Group.

Mr. Daugherty judges all over the United States, as well as, Belgium, Spain and China.

Mr. Joe C. Walton began exhibiting Shih Tzu under the Shen Wah prefix in the early 1970’s. He has successfully finished more than 80 champions and his wins have included many National Specialties, Toy Groups and Best In Shows.

Mr. Walton began judging in 1987 and is licensed to judge the AKC Sporting, Hound, Terrier, Toy and Non-Sporting Groups, as well as, 20 Working breeds. His assignments have been in the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Sweden, The Netherlands, China and Taiwan.

He has also judged many local and national specialties in other breeds, including The Tibetan Terrier, Lhasa Apso, Chihuahua, Soft Coated Wheaten, Kerry Blue Terriers, Otterhound and the American Foxhounds National Specialty.

Kathleen Ferris

Ms. Kathleen J. Ferris started showing and breeding Scottish Terriers in 1972. She competed in Juniors and was mentored by several Terrier Professional Handlers.

After graduating with a BA in Political Science, Kathleen worked as a Personnel Manager in Manufacturing before deciding to become a professional dog handler. She has had great success specializing in Terriers, showing many to Best of Breed and Best In Show including the number one Terrier.

Ms. Ferris now owns and manages her family’s large boarding and grooming facility in Pennsylvania and is still a breeder/owner/exhibitor of Scottish Terriers.

Michael Leonard
